For my DreamStadium concept of Yankee Stadium, I wanted to take what I thought
was the best, at least in my opinion, of all three versions of what we know as "Yankee
Stadium"--the original (1923-73), the renovated (1976-2008), and the new (2009).

Certainly, the most cherished version was the original, and much of the original
character and flavor was lost during the renovation, so for my concept, I wanted to
restore as much of the old stadium as possible, while still creating a modern,
state-of-the-art facility.

Before we go any further, let me say I had no desire to replicate the entire Bronx and
the elevated subway line--remember, this is a concept, a fantasy design, so bear with
me with my ideas beyond the right field bleachers.

First, the dimensions: I did not want to replicate the vastness of the old stadium, but I
still wanted the character of it, so I created a field that was the same shape as the old
stadium, but not quite as deep, and unlike the 1976 stadium, center field is the
deepest part of the park, just like the old stadium was.

Monument Park: I relocated the park outside the stadium for a few reasons:
